Safety Focused Behavioural Program

All Intract employees are trained in McMahon Services ‘Safety Focused Behavioural Program’ designed to build a strong safety culture throughout the organisation. To implement changes in attitudes and behaviours we work closely with our site personnel by utilising a mix of workshops, training materials and on-site mentors. We encourage open communication with the aim of creating greater awareness to help reduce injuries and improve our safety performance.

Training and Development

Intract Indigenous Employment Program

To further support training and development, the Intract Indigenous Employment Program was established, through funding from the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). A civil construction 'work ready' training and recruitment program was designed and is managed by Bedford Group specifically for the initiative. Trainway were then engaged to coordinate a six week intensive program focusing on a selection of competency units from Certificate II in Civil Construction (RII20709).

The units include the use of hand and power tools, operation of small plant and equipment, skid steer loader ticket, roller training, senior first aid certificate, traffic control and white card training. Participants are also coached in essential life skills during the program to overcome barriers such as drugs and alcohol, family issues, being away from home, finance and budgeting, healthy lifestyles and developing self-management tools.

Beyond the Employment Program

Beyond the initial recruitment and induction phase, graduates are supported with on-going training and development. Our highly trained senior personnel provide mentoring, offering on-site support and assisting in skill development.

Intract also engages local facilitators in Indigenous communities to assist with preparing trainees for work. This includes organising medicals, facilitating inductions and providing an easily accessible point of contact.
